Delhi HC Fines Lawyer For Virtual Hearing

The Delhi High Court has imposed a ₹1 lakh penalty on a lawyer for attending a virtual court hearing while inside a moving car. Justice Om Prakash Shukla stated that the convenience of virtual hearings cannot compromise the dignity of the courtroom or disrupt judicial proceedings. The court noted that background noise and disturbances from such situations impede its work, especially when handling over 70 cases daily. The lawyer, Nachiketa Goyal, was ordered to deposit the fine with the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee within a week.

दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट ने एक वकील पर वर्चुअल कोर्ट की सुनवाई में चलती कार में भाग लेने के लिए ₹1 लाख का जुर्माना लगाया है। जस्टिस ओम प्रकाश शुक्ला ने कहा कि वर्चुअल सुनवाई की सुविधा से कोर्ट की गरिमा या न्यायिक कार्यवाही में बाधा नहीं आनी चाहिए। कोर्ट ने कहा कि ऐसी स्थितियों से होने वाला शोर और व्यवधान उनके काम में बाधा डालता है, खासकर जब वे हर दिन 70 से अधिक मामलों को संभालते हैं। वकील, नचिकेता गोयल, को एक सप्ताह के भीतर दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट लीगल सर्विसेज कमेटी में जुर्माना जमा करने का आदेश दिया गया है।
