In Bengaluru, numerous voters have been marked as 'absent' or 'shifted' in electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, despite residing at their registered addresses. Consecutive serial numbers in several polling stations were affected, with many residents unaware of the process to get their names reinstated. Officials reported 776 deletions from one polling station alone, including 389 as shifted and 275 as absent. A special campaign is planned for areas with high numbers of such deletions, as many affected individuals are daily-wage earners who may have missed notifications.
