North Korea has vehemently denied allegations that it planted land mines which injured three South Korean soldiers last week. Kim Yo Jong, a senior North Korean official, dismissed the claims as a "conspiratorial farce" and "groundless." South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff had previously announced a preliminary assessment that North Korean mines were likely responsible for the explosions near the Demilitarized Zone. The incident has heightened tensions along the heavily fortified border, which is already known to be littered with millions of land mines.
