Supreme Court to Hear Pleas Seeking Delhi Police Permission for Peaceful Protests
Business Standard · politics
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear petitions requesting directions for the Delhi Police to allow peaceful protests in the national capital. A lawyer informed the bench that citizens, students, and political party office-bearers, including MPs, are being denied permission to protest. The bench, led by the Chief Justice of India, stated it would examine the issue and ascertain if similar matters are already pending. The court will decide on listing the plea for a hearing after its review. This comes amid recent protests against the Election Commission.
