Kedarnath generates 50.3 tonnes waste in 5 months

Kedarnath has generated 50.30 metric tonnes of waste between April and August this year, a figure more than 2.5 times the total collected last year. This alarming increase, revealed through an RTI response, has reignited debates about waste management and environmental impact in the sensitive Himalayan region. The monthly figures show a significant surge, with May recording the highest waste generation, directly correlating with the rising number of pilgrims visiting the holy site.

केदारनाथ में 5 महीने में 50.3 टन कचरा उत्पन्न

इस साल अप्रैल से अगस्त के बीच केदारनाथ में 50.30 मीट्रिक टन कचरा जमा हुआ है। यह पिछले साल के कुल कचरे से ढाई गुना से भी ज़्यादा है। आरटीआई से मिली इस चौंकाने वाली जानकारी ने हिमालयी क्षेत्र में कचरा प्रबंधन और पर्यावरण पर पड़ रहे असर को लेकर बहस फिर से छेड़ दी है। मई महीने में सबसे ज़्यादा कचरा निकला, जो तीर्थयात्रियों की बढ़ती संख्या से जुड़ा है।
