Goa CM Denies BJP Role in Voter Deletions

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has stated that the deletion of voters' names from electoral rolls is solely the responsibility of the Election Commission of India (ECI). He emphasized that the ECI is an independent body and that neither the state government nor the BJP has any connection to the process. Sawant's comments came after opposition parties alleged large-scale deletions were compromising the democratic process. The Chief Electoral Officer clarified that some deleted names have been re-included after voters filed the necessary forms.

गोवा के मुख्यमंत्री प्रमोद सावंत ने कहा है कि वोटरों के नाम वोटर लिस्ट से हटाना सिर्फ़ इलेक्शन कमीशन ऑफ इंडिया (ECI) की ज़िम्मेदारी है। उन्होंने ज़ोर देकर कहा कि ECI एक स्वतंत्र संस्था है और राज्य सरकार या बीजेपी का इस प्रक्रिया से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। विपक्ष के आरोपों के बाद सावंत ने यह बात कही कि बड़े पैमाने पर नाम हटाए जाने से लोकतंत्र खतरे में है। चीफ इलेक्टोरल ऑफिसर ने बताया कि कुछ हटाए गए नाम वोटरों द्वारा ज़रूरी फॉर्म भरने के बाद वापस जोड़ दिए गए हैं।
