उत्तराखंड के वन मंत्री सुबोध उनियाल ने कहा कि उन्हें मनोरंजन जगत की हस्तियों की आलोचना के बावजूद एक कॉन्सर्ट के दौरान गायक दिलेर मेहंदी की सार्वजनिक रूप से आलोचना करने का कोई पछतावा नहीं है। उनियाल ने सवाल उठाया कि अगर मेहंदी अस्वस्थ थे तो उन्होंने प्रदर्शन क्यों किया और पूरी अग्रिम राशि मिलने के बावजूद लिप-सिंक करने का आरोप लगाया। मेहंदी के भाई ने कथित तौर पर उनियाल से स्पष्ट करने को कहा कि गायक शराब नहीं, बल्कि दवा पर थे, एक ऐसा अनुरोध जिस पर उनियाल ने विचार किया। मंत्री ने कहा कि उनकी आपत्ति प्रदर्शन की गुणवत्ता पर थी, न कि कलाकार का अपमान करने पर।
