A major accident was averted in Thane, Maharashtra, when a steel rod from an under-construction elevated road pillar fell onto a moving car. The incident occurred on the Anand Nagar-Saket elevated road project site, damaging the car's windshield but thankfully causing no injuries. MMRDA has imposed a ₹2 crore penalty on the contractor responsible for the project. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident and ensure safety standards are met. The MMRDA has stressed that safety violations will not be tolerated.
