Civil Rights Forum to Protest Special Intensive Revision Process in Kalaburagi

A consortium of progressive organisations, the Movement for the Protection of Civil Rights, will protest in Kalaburagi on October 2. They demand protection of voters' rights, transparency in electoral roll revision, and the suspension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Forum convener Mahesh Kumar Rathod alleged the SIR could lead to eligible voters being excluded. Activists compared the SIR to NRC and CAA, claiming it targets Muslim voters. They seek an independent Election Commission and re-elections in states where the SIR was allegedly misused.

नागरिक अधिकारों की सुरक्षा के लिए आंदोलन नामक प्रगतिशील संगठनों के एक समूह ने 2 अक्टूबर को कलबुर्गी में विरोध प्रदर्शन करने का ऐलान किया है। वे मतदाताओं के अधिकारों की सुरक्षा, मतदाता सूची संशोधन में पारदर्शिता और विशेष गहन संशोधन (SIR) प्रक्रिया को निलंबित करने की मांग कर रहे हैं। फोरम के संयोजक महेश कुमार राठौड़ ने आरोप लगाया कि SIR से योग्य मतदाताओं के नाम हटाए जा सकते हैं। कार्यकर्ताओं ने SIR की तुलना NRC और CAA से की है और दावा किया है कि यह मुस्लिम मतदाताओं को निशाना बना रहा है। वे एक स्वतंत्र चुनाव आयोग और उन राज्यों में फिर से चुनाव कराने की मांग कर रहे हैं जहाँ कथित तौर पर SIR का दुरुपयोग किया गया था।
