Kolkata Doctors Use Magnet to Remove Toy Magnet From Child's Airway

Doctors at Medical College Hospital Kolkata successfully removed a toy magnet from a six-year-old girl's airway using an innovative magnet-assisted technique. The child had accidentally swallowed the magnet, which became lodged in her respiratory tract, posing a life-threatening risk. Conventional bronchoscopy methods failed due to the magnet's size and impaction. A specially fabricated magnet was attached to forceps, enabling its retrieval. This novel approach avoided the need for open surgery, restoring the child's breathing and leading to her admission to the pediatric intensive care unit for monitoring.

कोलकाता के मेडिकल कॉलेज हॉस्पिटल के डॉक्टरों ने एक 6 साल की बच्ची के गले से खिलौने का चुंबक एक नई चुंबक-सहायता तकनीक से सफलतापूर्वक निकाल दिया। बच्ची ने गलती से चुंबक निगल लिया था, जो उसके सांस लेने वाले रास्ते में फंस गया था और जानलेवा खतरा पैदा कर रहा था। चुंबक के आकार और फंसने की वजह से पारंपरिक ब्रोंकोस्कोपी तरीके काम नहीं कर पाए। एक खास तौर पर बनाया गया चुंबक फोर्सेप्स से जोड़ा गया, जिससे उसे बाहर निकाला जा सका। इस नए तरीके से ओपन सर्जरी की जरूरत नहीं पड़ी, बच्ची की सांस वापस आ गई और उसे निगरानी के लिए पीडियाट्रिक इंटेंसिव केयर यूनिट में भर्ती कराया गया।
