Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has acknowledged his campaign's responsibility for a controversial advertisement featuring the estranged mother of Democratic opponent Amy Acton. In the ad, Donna Arthur made accusations of dishonesty against her daughter and urged voters not to support her gubernatorial bid. Ramaswamy stated the ad was a response to Acton's refusal to debate and alleged defamatory lies about him. He also claimed Acton's mother was not compensated and he has never met her. Acton has been estranged from her mother since 1978.
