Dharwad Administration Imposes Prohibitory Orders Ahead of MLC Polls

The Dharwad district administration has imposed prohibitory orders and banned liquor sales and consumption to, ahead of the biennial election for the West Graduates’ Constituency of the Karnataka Legislative Council. These orders, invoking Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, prohibit gatherings of over five people and carrying weapons. Public campaigning must cease by 4 PM, and electronic devices will be restricted near polling stations.

धारवाड़ जिला प्रशासन ने कर्नाटक विधान परिषद की पश्चिम स्नातक सीट के द्विवार्षिक चुनाव से पहले निषेधाज्ञा लागू कर दी है और शराब की बिक्री व सेवन पर रोक लगा दी है। भारतीय नागरिक सुरक्षा संहिता की धारा 163 के तहत लागू इन आदेशों में पांच से अधिक लोगों के इकट्ठा होने और हथियार ले जाने पर रोक लगाई गई है। सार्वजनिक प्रचार अभियान शाम 4 बजे तक बंद होना चाहिए, और मतदान केंद्रों के पास इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरणों पर प्रतिबंध रहेगा।
