The court noted that the ISF had previously used this symbol and objected to its reallocation. With 183 symbols available, the EC's decision to grant the symbol to another party, despite objections, was scrutinized.

कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट ने पश्चिम बंगाल उपचुनावों में TMC के एक गुट को 'लिफाफा' चुनाव चिन्ह आवंटित करने को लेकर चुनाव आयोग की निष्पक्षता पर सवाल उठाए। कोर्ट ने कहा कि ISF पहले भी यह चिन्ह इस्तेमाल कर चुकी थी और इसके दोबारा आवंटन पर आपत्ति जताई। 183 चिन्ह उपलब्ध होने के बावजूद, आपत्तियों के बावजूद आयोग का दूसरे दल को चिन्ह देना जांच के दायरे में आ गया।
