Trichy Roads Inundated By Moderate Rains After Monsoon Onset

Several roads in Trichy city, including low-lying areas, were inundated on Friday following moderate rainfall on Thursday night, marking the onset of the northeast monsoon. Areas like Cantonment, Thillai Nagar, and Thennur received substantial rainfall, with Golden Rock recording 3.6cm. Major roads such as Thillai Nagar Main Road and Salai Road were most affected, causing commuting difficulties, especially for two-wheeler riders due to submerged carriageways and power cuts. Corporation officials attributed the waterlogging to solid waste and plastic bottles clogging drains, though they had recently desilted most of them.

गुरुवार रात को हुई मध्यम बारिश के बाद, शुक्रवार को तिरुचि शहर की कई सड़कें, जिनमें निचले इलाके भी शामिल थे, पानी में डूब गईं। यह उत्तर-पूर्वी मानसून की शुरुआत का संकेत था। कैंटोनमेंट, थिल्लई नगर और थेन्नूर जैसे इलाकों में अच्छी खासी बारिश हुई, जिसमें गोल्डन रॉक में 3.6 सेमी बारिश दर्ज की गई। थिल्लई नगर मेन रोड और सलाई रोड जैसी प्रमुख सड़कें सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित हुईं, जिससे आवागमन में दिक्कतें हुईं, खासकर दोपहिया वाहन चालकों के लिए क्योंकि सड़कें पानी में डूब गईं और बिजली भी गुल हो गई।
