Ethiopia has announced the closure of its embassy in Eritrea and declared ten Eritrean diplomats persona non grata. The Ethiopian foreign ministry cited Eritrea's "direct and indirect acts of hostility" as the reason for the drastic measure. Addis Ababa stated the expelled diplomats were involved in activities threatening Ethiopia's national security. This action follows reports of explosions at Ethiopian military headquarters in the capital. The embassy had been reopened in 2018 as part of a previous rapprochement between the two neighboring nations.
