Prominent Guatemalan anti-corruption lawyer Juan Francisco Solorzano Foppa was killed in a shooting on Saturday by two men while visiting a sports center in Guatemala City. The 43-year-old former prosecutor was known for his fight against corruption, denouncing powerful politicians and business leaders. Guatemalan police have detained two men and seized a firearm and motorcycle in connection with the case. President Bernardo Arevalo condemned the murder and ordered government coordination to solve the crime, vowing that terror will not intimidate the nation.
