The Central Consumer Protection Authority has fined ride-hailing platform Rapido ten lakh rupees for using deceptive digital practices, known as dark patterns. The app prompts users to add extra tips between ten and thirty rupees, pressuring commuters into paying above the determined fare. This practice, identified as confirm shaming and unfair interface manipulation, aims to safeguard consumer rights and curb manipulative designs across transport platforms.

सेंट्रल कंज्यूमर प्रोटेक्शन अथॉरिटी ने Rapido ऐप पर दस लाख रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया है। कंपनी ग्राहकों को ठगने वाले 'डार्क पैटर्न' का इस्तेमाल कर रही थी। ऐप में ग्राहकों से 10 से 30 रुपये का अतिरिक्त टिप देने को कहा जाता है, जिससे वे तय किराए से ज़्यादा पैसे देने को मजबूर होते हैं। इस तरह के गलत तरीकों पर रोक लगाने के लिए यह कार्रवाई की गई है।
