Businessman R. Veeramani Booked For Abetting Minor's Suicide

Gem Granites owner R. Veeramani has been booked by Greater Chennai Police on charges of abetting the suicide of a minor in 2004. Investigators have also invoked provisions under the POCSO Act against the businessman and his associate Shanti. The case resurfaced after a message from Shanti to Veeramani about the girl's death was accessed. The victim's mother alleged sexual abuse and inaction by police at the time. Police are investigating financial transactions, with over ₹20 crore found in one suspect's account.
