Outward remittances from India under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) increased by 6% to $2.7 billion in August 2026. This rise was primarily fueled by overseas student and business travel, along with payments for remote education. Investments in foreign equity and debt also saw a substantial rise, more than doubling compared to the previous year, despite a slight monthly dip.
