Global Oil Buffers Shrink Dramatically Amid Supply Risks

Times of India - Business · business

Global oil markets face winter with significantly reduced safety cushions, as over 1 billion barrels were depleted from commercial stockpiles due to supply disruptions. Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser stated that less than 6 billion barrels of commercial inventories remain, with a small fraction practically available, indicating the system is already strained. This drawdown, driven by conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, has diminished the market's ability to absorb shocks. Chevron CEO Mike Wirth noted this fragility increases crude's price floor, making the market more dependent on current flows.
