Mohali municipal corporation has floated a ₹21-crore tender to address a mounting garbage disposal crisis and improve waste management. The project includes creating three collection and segregation centres and two secondary collection points to streamline handling. This initiative aims to overcome the city's failing waste disposal system, which caused its ranking to drop significantly in the Swachh Survekshan survey. The plan allocates funds for centres, secondary points, and the long-delayed Samgauli processing plant, seeking to resolve issues of waste accumulation and inadequate processing.
