The elephant-headed deity, known as Ganesha, Ganapati, or Vinayaka in India, is revered across Asia with different names and forms. In Thailand, he is Phra Phikanet; in Japan, Kangiten, sometimes depicted embracing. Nepal retains a familiar form, revered by Hindus and Buddhists. Sri Lanka knows him as Pillaiyar, and Malaysia as Vinayagar, with temples like the Sree Selva Vinayagar Temple tracing history to the 1930s.
