Times of India · interesting

What began as a vacant lot in Houston has been transformed into Smither Park, a vibrant public art space over 16 years. Artists began using discarded materials like broken dishes, bottle caps, and shells in 2010 to create art. Now, over 300 artists have contributed to a 400-foot mosaic wall and various other installations, including a pavilion, band shell, and interactive marble tower. The project, completed for approximately $1.2 million through private donations, showcases how reclaimed materials can be given new life and purpose.
