The Hindu · india

Karnataka police personnel will soon be equipped with new whistle guards and matte-finish uniform buttons, replacing the current metal accessories. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced the change, aimed at enhancing the comfort and health of officers, especially lower-rank staff. The existing metal parts are prone to rusting, causing stains and potential skin issues. This move follows recommendations from the Karnataka State Police Complaints Authority and aligns with practices in several other Indian states that have already adopted similar upgrades for their police forces.
