The Hindu · india

The State Information Commission has decided to seek an explanation from the Kochi Corporation regarding its move to share details of "excessive" RTI applicants with the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau. The Commission noted that this action could curtail citizens' constitutional rights to freedom of speech and expression. Sharing financial details of applicants for a probe could deter individuals from seeking information as envisioned by the RTI Act. The Kochi Corporation had recently decided to share these details following complaints of misuse of the Act's provisions.
