Hyderabad residents can now report drinking water wastage and misuse through the new HMWSSB ‘PAANI’ mobile application. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board urges households to reduce consumption by 20% due to potential El Nino impacts on water availability. Citizens can register as ‘Save Water Volunteers’ online, with their identities kept confidential. Confirmed misuse will lead to notices and penalties, while outstanding volunteers may receive recognition from the Chief Minister. The board also advises against using potable water for non-drinking purposes like washing vehicles.

हैदराबाद के लोग अब नए HMWSSB ‘PAANI’ मोबाइल ऐप के ज़रिए पीने के पानी की बर्बादी और गलत इस्तेमाल की रिपोर्ट कर सकते हैं। हैदराबाद मेट्रोपॉलिटन वॉटर सप्लाई एंड सीवरेज बोर्ड ने पानी की उपलब्धता पर अल नीनो के संभावित असर को देखते हुए, घरों से खपत 20% कम करने की अपील की है। नागरिक ऑनलाइन ‘सेव वॉटर वॉलंटियर्स’ के तौर पर रजिस्टर कर सकते हैं, उनकी पहचान गुप्त रखी जाएगी। गलत इस्तेमाल की पुष्टि होने पर नोटिस और जुर्माना लगेगा, जबकि अच्छे वॉलंटियर्स को मुख्यमंत्री से पहचान मिल सकती है। बोर्ड ने पीने लायक पानी का इस्तेमाल गाड़ियां धोने जैसे गैर-पीने के कामों के लिए न करने की भी सलाह दी है।
