SAI, BAI Administrative Tussle Left Badminton Stars To Fund Their Own European Tour

Hindustan Times · sports

Top Indian badminton players, including PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen, reportedly had to fund their own participation in recent European tournaments due to an administrative tussle between the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Badminton Association of India (BAI). Delays in fund approval left players to manage their finances for events in Finland, Denmark, France, and Germany. A SAI official stated that the tournaments were not part of the BAI's approved Annual Calendar for Training and Competition (ACTC) and proposals were submitted late.
