Ladakh Admin Orders Sonam Wangchuk's School to Halt Activities

The Ladakh administration has directed the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives' Desert Flower School in Leh to cease all "unauthorised activities." The notice cites that the school, run by activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife, commenced operations without necessary approvals. The administration emphasized that the land allotment matter is currently sub judice before the High Court. They have advised the institute to maintain the status quo to avoid prejudicing the ongoing legal case. This directive comes as the administration had previously cancelled the land allotment to HIAL in August 2025.

लद्दाख प्रशासन ने लेह में हिमालयन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ अल्टरनेटिव्स के डेजर्ट फ्लावर स्कूल को सभी 'अनधिकृत गतिविधियां' बंद करने का निर्देश दिया है। नोटिस में कहा गया है कि एक्टिविस्ट सोनम वांगचुक की पत्नी द्वारा चलाए जा रहे स्कूल ने जरूरी मंजूरी के बिना काम शुरू कर दिया था। प्रशासन ने जोर देकर कहा कि भूमि आवंटन का मामला फिलहाल हाई कोर्ट के समक्ष विचाराधीन है। उन्होंने संस्थान को सलाह दी है कि चल रहे कानूनी मामले को नुकसान पहुंचाने से बचने के लिए यथास्थिति बनाए रखें। यह निर्देश ऐसे समय में आया है जब प्रशासन ने अगस्त 2025 में HIAL को भूमि आवंटन पहले ही रद्द कर दिया था।
