In Maharashtra's Satara district, the village of Pande observes a unique 350-year-old tradition during Dussehra. Around 350-400 devotees undertake a nine-day fast, standing without footwear and sleeping on ropes instead of the ground. This year, the fast was dedicated to overcoming drought and bringing prosperity to farmers. The festival also showcases Hindu-Muslim unity, with the Muslim community participating alongside Hindus. The tradition culminates with the 'Sona Lutne' ritual, where people exchange Aapta leaves, symbolizing gold.
