A Madhya Pradesh family is seeking clarity after the UK government stated it has no record of a 109-year-old Indian War Loan, allegedly subscribed by a Bhopal businessman in 1917 for ₹35,000. The UK's Debt Management Office informed the family's legal counsel that they found no evidence of the loan being or having been an obligation of the British government. The family claims the investment, which reportedly carried a 5.5% annual interest, has not been repaid.
