Centre Likely To Meet FY27 Fiscal Deficit Target Despite Higher Spending: Goldman Sachs
Times of India · business
Goldman Sachs Research predicts the Centre will likely meet its fiscal deficit target of 4.3 per cent of GDP for FY27. This is despite 42.6 per cent of the budgeted deficit being recorded in the first six months. Stronger corporate tax collections are expected to provide a cushion against revenue pressures. The investment firm anticipates the government will manage finances through expenditure reprioritisation, even with increased interest payments and capital spending. However, sustained global commodity price rises could complicate efforts by increasing fertiliser subsidies and fuel excise duty relief.
