Punjab Shuts Down Over Anti-Drug Activist's Murder; Parties Back Protest

Punjab is observing a statewide shutdown in protest against the murder of anti-drug activist Parwinder Singh Jhota in Mansa. The shutdown, led by Jhota's father, has received support from major political parties including Congress, BJP, and Akali Dal. Jhota was shot dead while livestreaming his objection to the sale of drugs at a medical store. His father is demanding a CBI inquiry and the resignation of the Chief Minister and DGP, refusing to cremate his son's body until his demands are met.

पंजाब में नशे के खिलाफ़ आवाज़ उठाने वाले परविंदर सिंह झोटा की मनसा में हत्या के विरोध में पूरे राज्य में बंद का ऐलान किया गया है। झोटा के पिता के नेतृत्व वाले इस बंद को कांग्रेस, बीजेपी और अकाली दल सहित प्रमुख राजनीतिक पार्टियों का समर्थन मिला है। झोटा को एक मेडिकल स्टोर पर नशे के सामान की बिक्री का विरोध करते हुए लाइवस्ट्रीमिंग के दौरान गोली मार दी गई थी। उनके पिता सीबीआई जांच और मुख्यमंत्री व डीजीपी के इस्तीफे की मांग कर रहे हैं और जब तक उनकी मांगें पूरी नहीं हो जातीं, तब तक अपने बेटे के शव का अंतिम संस्कार करने से इनकार कर रहे हैं।
