Karnataka police have busted a large interstate sex determination and female foeticide racket. In a unique sting operation, female administrative officers disguised themselves as a pregnant patient and her mother. Assistant Commissioner Shweta Bidikar posed as the pregnant woman, while Deputy Director Dr. Shobha Nadini and DHO Suvarna Kulkarni acted as her mother. They contacted intermediaries and followed them across the border into Maharashtra, leading to a raid on a farmhouse. A portable scanning machine, abortion pills, and injections were recovered, and two individuals were arrested.
