Yamuna Pollution Resurfaces With Toxic Foam As Delhi Air Quality Worsens

Times of India · environment

Thick white foam has reappeared on the Yamuna River near Kalindi Kunj, coinciding with a rise in AQI to 168, indicating unhealthy air. PM2.5 and PM10 are the primary pollutants. In response, the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 1 has been enforced, restricting coal and firewood use in eateries and diesel generators. This environmental degradation occurs despite the Delhi government's recent inauguration of infrastructure projects worth approximately ₹9,000 crore aimed at rejuvenating the Yamuna.
