India has advocated for comprehensive reforms of the UN Security Council, stating that all permanent members of a reformed Council should possess equal rights and responsibilities, including the veto power. India's permanent representative, Parvathaneni Harish, emphasized that the veto should be used judiciously and not for narrow political interests. The country also opposed creating a new category of permanent members without veto rights, arguing it would exacerbate existing inequalities.
