Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt expressed deep emotion watching his son-in-law Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Lord Rama in the upcoming film Ramayana. Bhatt revealed he was moved to tears during the scene where Rama is exiled, finding it difficult to contain his emotions in front of other filmmakers. He praised director Nitesh Tiwari for his sensitive direction and Yash's performance as Ravana. Bhatt felt Ranbir's performance touched a divine aspect of himself, previously unexplored in his other roles. The film is an ambitious two-part adaptation of the Indian epic.
