China has officially declared India's recent naming of 28 places and geographical features in Ladakh as "illegal and invalid." Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that China has never recognised the "so-called Union Territory of Ladakh." India's Ministry of External Affairs responded firmly, asserting that Ladakh is an "integral and inalienable part of India." The ministry added that China's denials cannot alter this established fact. India had identified these locations, including sites in Aksai Chin, on its official map on October 2.
