Singer Arivu was reportedly denied entry to the Kalakshetra Foundation campus in Thiruvanmiyur, sparking controversy online. He was allegedly told the campus is reserved for Carnatic music and Bharatanatyam. Arivu questioned if only classical forms are art and when music acquired a caste. Supporters of Kalakshetra stated the institution is autonomous and its facilities are strictly for classical arts. They claim the denial was due to administrative protocol for non-classical events, not personal targeting.
