Andhra Pradesh High Court Rejects YSRCP Plea For More Time In Local Body Polls

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed a petition by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) seeking additional time for filing nominations for Urban Local Body elections. The court stated it could not intervene after the notification was issued and the deadline passed. The YSRCP had alleged unlawful obstructions prevented candidates from filing papers. The State Election Commission informed the court that extending the deadline was not possible as scrutiny was scheduled for October 19. The ULB polls are set for October 28.

आंध्र प्रदेश हाई कोर्ट ने शहरी स्थानीय निकाय चुनावों के लिए नामांकन दाखिल करने के लिए अतिरिक्त समय मांगने वाली वाईएसआर कांग्रेस पार्टी (वाईएसआरसीपी) की याचिका खारिज कर दी है। अदालत ने कहा कि अधिसूचना जारी होने और समय सीमा बीत जाने के बाद वह हस्तक्षेप नहीं कर सकती। वाईएसआरसीपी ने आरोप लगाया था कि अवैध बाधाओं के कारण उम्मीदवार पर्चे दाखिल नहीं कर सके। राज्य चुनाव आयोग ने अदालत को सूचित किया कि 19 अक्टूबर को स्क्रूटनी निर्धारित होने के कारण समय सीमा बढ़ाना संभव नहीं था। यूएलबी चुनाव 28 अक्टूबर को होने हैं।
