Finland Halts Google Data Centre Work Over Forest Clearance Concerns

Finnish authorities have ordered a halt to construction at two planned Google data centres due to concerns over the clearance of over 300 hectares of forest. The Finnish Supervisory Agency stated that work at one site proceeded without a mandatory environmental impact assessment. Google acknowledged it had fallen short of its standards and will comply with the agency's guidance. The company announced a record €13 billion investment in Finland last month, including these data centres.
