Kala Darwaza, a designated heritage structure in Bhopal and an entrance to the MP Waqf Board office, has been defaced with a poster of the board-appointed chairman. This incident has raised concerns about the upkeep of the city’s historic gateways, which were restored at a cost of Rs 28 lakh around 2013. Despite recognition in the city's master plan and past restoration efforts by various bodies, sustained protection remains a challenge.
