New Aircraft Rules Mandate Fare Transparency, But Offer No Festive Price Relief
Times of India · business
New government rules, notified on October 31, require airlines to provide passengers with a detailed breakdown of air ticket prices at the time of booking. This includes cancellation fees and must be displayed on booking websites and tickets. While stakeholders welcome the move towards transparency, it offers no immediate relief from soaring festive fares. Air tickets to Ranchi for Diwali and Chhath Puja have nearly doubled, with one-way fares from Pune to Ranchi reaching Rs 25,000, significantly higher than the usual Rs 9,000.
