A 22-year-old man, Manpreet Singh, died after being electrocuted while removing a Punjab government hoarding on Chandigarh Road during a state-wide bandh. He was attempting to take down the hoarding when an iron rod he was carrying touched 11,000-volt power supply cables, causing him to fall and later be declared dead at the hospital. The bandh, called in protest against the killing of an anti-drug activist, caused partial disruption to normal life in Ludhiana and surrounding areas, with road blockades and market closures reported.
