Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga Defends Violent Films Amidst Criticism
Hindustan Times · entertainment
Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has strongly criticized those blaming A-rated films for societal violence, particularly after a recent chainsaw attack in Andhra Pradesh. He argued that cinema is being made a scapegoat, and critics are using tragedies to settle personal scores rather than addressing root problems. Vanga accused failed actors, directors, and producers of opportunistically appointing themselves as social reformers. He believes tragedies deserve empathy, not exploitation for personal agendas. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma also defended films, comparing the blame to blaming the Ramayana for kidnappings.
