The Election Commission of India (ECI) is employing digital databases and software matching, alongside field verification, to detect and remove duplicate entries in electoral rolls. This process involves using the ECINET platform to flag potential matches based on similar photos and demographic details, which are then examined by electoral registration officers. The ECI is also working to assign unique EPIC numbers to prevent future duplication issues and has discussed linking voter IDs with Aadhaar to further tackle the problem.
