Punjab Govt Agrees to Release Activists, Pay Compensation in Jhota Case

Key concessions include the release of jailed activists, including Lakha Sidhana, and a compensation of ₹2 crore for Jhota's family. The government also promised a government job to a family member and the establishment of a trauma center in Jhota's name. An inquiry into alleged misconduct by police and health officials is also agreed upon, with a memorial to be erected.

23 दिनों के विरोध प्रदर्शन के बाद, पंजाब सरकार ने परमिंदर सिंह झोटा के लिए न्याय की मांगों को लेकर एक एक्शन कमेटी के साथ एक समझौते पर पहुँच गई है। मुख्य रियायतों में लाखा सिधाना सहित जेल में बंद कार्यकर्ताओं की रिहाई और झोटा के परिवार के लिए ₹2 करोड़ का मुआवजा शामिल है। सरकार ने परिवार के एक सदस्य को सरकारी नौकरी और झोटा के नाम पर एक ट्रॉमा सेंटर स्थापित करने का भी वादा किया। पुलिस और स्वास्थ्य अधिकारियों द्वारा कथित कदाचार की जांच पर भी सहमति हुई है, और एक स्मारक बनाया जाएगा।
