A diminutive wild cat, known locally as 'Tilcayo', has been identified as a new species in Bolivia's cloud forests. This marks the first new living cat species formally named in over a century. Measuring approximately 46 cm long and weighing 1.4 kg, it is smaller than an average domestic cat. Researchers confirmed its unique status using genetic data, naming it Leopardus tilcayo.
