CIFT to Aid Andaman & Nicobar Administration With Fish Product Standards & Boat Designs

The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) in Kochi will provide technical support to the Andaman and Nicobar administration to promote traditional fish products and standardise fishing boat designs. CIFT has signed two consultancy agreements to help secure Geographical Indication (GI) tags for Chilled Andaman Coral Trout and Nicobari Thoharango. The institute will also provide 30 standardised fishing boat designs, including technical specifications and cost estimates. This collaboration aims to boost local livelihoods and promote sustainable fisheries development in the islands.
