Two Indian-origin pharmacists, Jignesh Patel and Rahil Patel, have been sentenced to six years in prison each in the UK for a £1.3 million fraud against the National Health Service. The pair used fake prescriptions between 2014 and 2017 to obtain medicines, including leukaemia drugs, which prosecutors stated were intended for resale in Europe. Investigators uncovered thousands of fraudulent claims linked to hundreds of patients across four NHS areas. The scheme involved Wise Pharmacy and a wholesale business, Actipharm Limited, which allegedly sold the stolen medicines to EU buyers.
