Markets regulator Sebi has reduced the cooling-off period for offer-for-sale (OFS) transactions by privately placed illiquid infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs) from 12 weeks to 8 weeks. This change aims to facilitate ease of doing business for these entities, which inherently face liquidity constraints due to large trading lot sizes. The reduction acknowledges the structural liquidity issues faced by privately listed InvITs, often limiting participation to institutional investors. The new rule comes into effect immediately, providing a more streamlined process for these specific investment vehicles.
